Why Marijuana?

For my blog stage 6, I have chosen to use "Should Marijuana Be Legal?" from the article "Hannah Chapman's US government blog" I think that she picked a really good topic to argue about since everyone knows about weed. Marijuana has many pro's and cons and everybody seems to have a different opinion about it, some people like it and some people don't like it.
However I'm arguing the other way from Hannah. Hannah thinks that it should be legalized but I don't think it should. I do agree that Hannah's right that it has certain aspects that are good, but what about the bad? For instance, it is extremely addictive for some people. No ones sure why it's so addicting but it has a feeling that people crave and want so badly that they want it. Marijuana is so bad for everyone's health too. Marijuana has negative effects on the human body and it can cause long term damage to your physical and mental stability.
Some people refer to Marijuana as weed or even a "gateway drug." Hannah makes a good point when she says "The government might as well legalize the use of Cannabis (at least medically) and tax it." The people who spend thousands of money on weed know how expensive it can be. Most dealers make a ton of money and when their busted it definitely shows, However since it is considered illegal at the moment. A lot of people assume that just because it's illegal that it makes it bad. No everything illegal is bad and not everything bad is illegal; for example, tattoos, pit bulls, etc.
I honestly do not think that marijuana should be legalized since it's so common around everybody and no one seems to care. A lot of people don't even notice the negative impacts simply because they just want to get high. Some parents even put it before their children and that's so sad to me. Parents are here to help protect us and raise us for the better, not to ignore us so that they can go party and get messed up. I highly discourage the use of marijuana since I don't like the smell but I know a lot of people that do, but I honestly think that it would have worse impacts on our society today.
